Biography
Associate Professor Zahra Gharineiat is an expert in surveying, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) applications, LiDAR and feature extraction, and digital innovation. With a PhD in Surveying and over a decade of academic and industry experience, she leads research in UAV, remote sensing, AI-enabled monitoring, and spatial data analytics.
Zahra has secured over $6 million in research funding and currently serves as the Associate Head of School (Research) at UniSQ. She also plays a key role in academic program development and the design of industry-aligned curricula. Zahra is the founder of the nationally recognised “Drones for STEM” initiative, which promotes STEM education through hands-on drone learning experiences.
Widely recognised for her contributions, Zahra has received multiple awards for research, teaching, and innovation, and is an active member of national and international geospatial communities inlcuding
